Free MP4 Converter App Reviews

For the most part this app works as described. However, when converting from wmv the resulting file’s video is frozen for the first couple of seconds while the audio plays normally.

Finally a program that converts videos to my iPod Classic in high quality. Good enough to even watch on my 40inch TV. I tried other programs on here that only converted the video in really low-small quality videos. Im talking like 350x200 60MB video files. Which is perfect size and quality for the iPod screen itself but nowadays with everything else we have like iPads and Apple TV’s and iPhones getting bigger and bigger, I’d like to be able make videos that can play in high quality HD across all devices. This program does just that. The customization is just what I needed to tweak the quality of my iPod videos while still keeping them in good enough quality for my other devices. Not to mention it can convert just about any video file. Even MOD files. O_o I didnt even think it would and it did. Its an awesome software program. I give 2 Thumbs up!

Funny. Search results say it will convert to iPad format, but you get the program and you need to pay for it. Removed, deleted never to be used again.

Its been a long time since i needed file conversion and looked at a free solution. I downloaded 3 different apps and tried this one first. I deleted the others as soon as i noticed how fast and easy this app works. I strontly recommend. I just converted 20gb of video to mp4 in 2 hours and coudlnt be any happier, best part is this was happening in the background, it didnt hog up all the memory. Great jobs guys whoever developed this app.

I used this application regularly and it was a great app before the 6.0.97 update which always crashes after I open the app and select a file to convert

Excited to see free software to convert my AVI files. Crashed on the first file i tried to convert. That’s what you get for free i guess!

Maybe they are just trying to get people to upgrade to paid versions of this app. After the last upgrade, this app will no longer accept my class videos for conversion. Just says it can’t write the file. Nothing else on my end has changed, other than installing Free MP4’s last upgrade. I see others are complaining about the same issue I’m having. Too bad, it WAS a great app. Hope they get it fixed.

Everytime i try to upload a file it crashes….

Will NOT open an .AVI file, just crashes...

So disappointed - the app just hangs, then crashes. Submitted crash report to Apple. One star, and only because I can’t give zero stars.

I mean it worked great for me! just had to convert my old home videos from my pc to my mac with wmv files to mp4 files and worked just great:) thanks

I am in the process of migrating my files from a PC to a Mac and want to add all of my videos to iTunes. I have hundreds of avi files and this app was perfect for converting them to mp4 quickly and without loss of quality.

Crashes immediately upon opening avi file, have to look for something else.

Worked the first time I ran it (converting 1 vid from webm to mp4). Crashed the second time I ran it, trying to drag and drop multiple files. Third time, I dragged each file over individually, then clicked “go.” It then converted 4 webm files to mp4 FAST! For a free product, I’d say it did pretty well. The interface is attractive and intuitive, and I’m sure I’ll be using it again. Keep up the good work, developers! :-)

I’ve had no problems using this program. It’s fast and doesn’t crash. Only thing I don’t like is it doesn’t go up to 1080P resolution, so I’ll probably just use Handbrake.

This really is a great app. For those complaining about the crashes, the app will crash if you import the video clip with the “Add Video” dropdown (which is silly because that is what the instructions say to do). However, the app never crashed for me when I dragged my clip into the “Getting Started” section. My video always imports this way and converts properly. Good app otherwise!

Doesn’t work. Wheel spins endlessly when I try to open a file.

It’s got a great UI. Worked efficiently and effectively. Simple to use. No problems at all.

Needed to convert 23 AVI movie files to MP4 for my new iPad. Downloaded Free MP4 Converter from iTunes App Store. Opened the Free MP4 Converter. Selected Add Video. Selected my video file. Selected 23 AVI movie files. Checked Audio Track setting. Profile was preset to MP4. Selected Apply to All. Selected Browse for Destination. Selected destination folder in my files. Selected Convert. AFTER ONLY 52 MIN FREE MP4 CONVERTER HAS ALREADY CONVERTED 6 FULL LENGTH MOVIES AND IS APPROACHING 40% OF THE 7TH MOVIE, VISIBLE AS IT COVERTES IN THE PROGRESS WINDOW!!!! NO VISIBLE LOSS OF RESOLUTION OR QUALITY!!! I am really impressed with the ease of this FREE!!! APP! HOW ANYONE COULD GIVE IT LESS THAN FIVE STARS IS BEYOND MY UNDERSTANDING! Every single other video file converter I tried would’t allow files over 100mb, and would make you pay for more. This converted a large video almost instantly, no trouble at all. Just what I needed without any hassle
